When a person shares a name with a popular character, that person may grow up receiving and collecting items related to that character.
I was born a touch late for H-Mania. I never had the dial/intercom phone, the oven, or the miniatures, but nor am I burdened within infinite amounts of scratchy porcelain, so maybe it’s a wash.
At one point, my sisters and I had all five of these ragdolls. Top left, Country Fun, was my gal. I dragged her to sleepovers and named her after a Baby-sitter’s Club member (Mary Anne). The others were Dream Pretty, Traveling Places, Fancy Time, and Party Dress. Fancy Time’s legs were printed with lace tights.
I had these sheets, I don’t anymore.
Metal lunch box. I paid 5 American dollars at a flea market in North Dakota, age 10 or so on a family trip.
Garbage bin. I’ve had this forever. It’s in my son’s bedroom.
I bought this 1970s or 80s doll (no tag) from Value Village when I was a teenager for a couple bucks. They have since vastly jacked their prices.
I paid $5 for these off F*cebook M*rketplace a few days ago:
Item I have never owned and never want to own: a Holly Hobbie ashtray. I’m flummoxed that these existed. And there are so many patterns!
To close, I’d like to wish you all..
Bonus: when it’s Halloween, your bangs are hefty, and your Grandma sews you a bonnet (source of dress unknown):
